Just been looking at this one.

Some astounding expressions included for sure.

But I couldn't help noticing the super-low fill levels on many bottles.

Also, how many were missing their original presentation boxes.

Maybe they were kept in greenhouses or boiler rooms lol.

I was asking the same question on the 1st auction.

I do not know why the fill levels are so low but they have all been kept in a self made whisky room so it should be at around the right temp?

But looking at the prices they were selling for people do not care any more.

I have not even looked at the 2nd auction yet and I am going to give it about a week before I do..

I've just had a look. Amazing bottles but surely not in decent condition to have those low fill levels?

I'm wondering how often the bottles have been turned? Perhaps the corks have dried and lost their air tight seal? It appears to be consistent across 'families' of bottles like the Black Bowmores and so on...

Does everyone here turn their bottles to wet the corks? If so, how often?

It is only Champagne that needs turning to collect the sediment generated by the secondary fermentation into the neck.

As for whisky it has such a high ABV % they should not be kept on there sides as the alcohol will rot the cork. Some say you should turn the bottles upside down once every 6 months just to make sure there is still a good seal.

But I know quite a few people that have a good size collections inc me that just can not get to half of the bottles. (for me I would have to spend a full day to empty, turn and refill it)

Yup, enough fill levels were so bad, I stopped browsing. I'm interested in drinking whatever I would bid on and it's just too big a risk.

One thing I did notice, is that quite a few of the bottles that where shown in the videos have not come up for sale in this or the 1st auction. It just goes to show that some people have managed to buy bottles outside the auction..

Or perhaps the bottles were just kept somewhere that had very high humidity.
