|
|
Heyo
I have a 14 Y/0 cask of Glenfarclas which is becoming a bit too woody for my linking. I want to bottle it, and keep around 50 bottles for my dear self and friends. However, I want to sell the rest to cover the bloody costs.
I have never sold stuff like this and would value any 5cents of advice from the folks here who are familiar with the drill. Do I have to use an auction house or broker? Or can I theoretically sell it legally without a license as a collection or chattel etc.
Bonus question: What do you lords of booze think is a good price per bottle for a Glenfarclas that tastes more like a G&M Mortlach?

| You could try contacting some independent bottlers such as Douglas Laing or even some of the big online whisky shops who bottle under their own indie label. one of them may do you a deal leaving you with the bottles you want, it costs nothing to contact them and have a chat. |

| Some good reviews of the whisky would carry a lot of clout when valuing it. |

Hi Keith, do you know if I would need a liquor license to sell the spirit to guys like Douglas or Hunter Laing?
Good Idea Fergie a pauper can dream. With this Covid fiasco, getting people to review it may be a bit more difficult than dropping it at some tasting that has some recognisable faces. Know any reputable ways to get the it reviewed in the current climate? |

@djsleep happy to do a review.
Id also suggest someone like Whisky Broker based in South West Scotland. We've used them a number of times and their service and quality has been second to none. |

| Sounds like you have a bottom line you need to cover after keeping 50 bottles. With regard to costing, bottling ABV will play a part. |

I stumbled on this site and they might be an option?
https://www.whiskybroker.co.uk/sell-a-cask-t-12
"If the cask is mature we are happy to consider deals where you get a specified number of bottles from the cask; labelled and Duty Paid. This allows you to taste the final product from your investment while not being stuck with 300 bottles of the same whisky in your garage!" |

How much would you be looking for per bottle?
If they were good value i’d be tempted to take a punt on one |
