Hello All,

New here so a quick hello from me.

Looking for some recommendations as to good Whisky Books. Looking specifically for books that tell a story rather than Whisky guides etc etc. Really enjoyed Peat, Smoke and Spirit and I'm half way through Alfred Barnard's rather detailed book from 1887!

Any views would be great.

Thanks
Liam

Welcome to the forum Liam.

A couple of books you may enjoy that have been around a while so you may have read them are "Scots on Scotch" by Phillip Hills and "MacLeans Miscellany of Whisky" by Charles MacLean.

Right now I'm reading "The Whisky River"? by Robin Laing - a book about distilleries in Speyside. Great addition to other "classic"? whisky books - with a lot of stories and lyrics about whisky. Another interesting and fun one is "Whisky Wit and Wisdom"? (Light and Quirky Stories from Inside the Whisky World) by Gavin D. Smith.

I was given Whisky Wit and Wisdom as a gift, easy to read, very much enjoyed it.

The Secret Still, Scotlands Clandestine Whisky Makers by Gavin D. Smith, it is about illegal whisky making and goes into the history of it and the the people who where involved in it and links todays whisky companies to these illegal whisky makers of the past. A short book, amusing in parts and gives a bit of a picture of life way back in those illegal distilling days.
