John, welcome to the Forum. I have a feeling you might like The Balvenie Carribean Cask 14 Year Rum Finish. _________________ "Always carry a large flagon of whisky in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake."

You'll need deep pockets. Investing in whisky, best to pick a couple of 'brands' whether that be on looks or taste or reputation.
Id say start trying drams, buy what you enjoy drinking...
All depends on what is your budget, £100 per bottle, £1,000 per bottle, £10,000 per bottle...
Tune into online auctions and get a feel for what bottles sell in your budget and if any match what you like drinking then go and buy a bottle. If the whisky investments collapse, at least you'll enjoy drinking that one |

My advice would be to buy a few different tasting kits and explore what whisky has to offer.
Then you'll know what you like. Once you've figured that out then you can pick out distilleries that make expressions to your taste. |

| I would say i am young (ish) i am 36. I am starting at base level as this is my first whisky collection. I will be buying to enjoy and save for a possible return years down the line. I have been looking at limited editions such as <1000 bottles of a batch. |

Are you familiar with the whisky auction market yet? I'd start by picking a couple brands (as suggested higher up) and then watching how the bottles fare on the auction sites. There are about 15 now so always multiple auctions live at any one time. You will get a feel for how much bottles move for and how the auctions work. _________________ Whisky is a form of art.
