|

| Good day all and thank you for the admission to this forum. I'm a relative newbie to the world of Scotch and nowhere near as knowledgeable as most here, but I do know what I like. Here in Canada, we have a pretty good selection of nice Scotch whiskey available but I fell in love with the Glenrothes Select Reserve. It used to be readily available in our liquor stores and now it's fallen off the planet. Does anyone know if it's an availability issue or some other factor? I managed to pick up a bottle of the Glenrothes Bourbon Cask Reserve which is also quite tasty. Though very dear, and alas, no longer available locally, the nicest Scotch I ever flipped a lip over was the Balvenie 21 yr. old. I've never acquired a taste for the "iodine" note inherent to some of the single malts out there, though some may flame me as a philistine for saying so. I was told that some of the Scottish descent inhabitants of Nova Scotia have dabbled in distilling a Canadian Scotch and I'd dearly love to try some of that. |

| I think the Glenrothes Select Reserve is no more, it was launched under owners Berry Brothers & Rudd but the distillery is now back in the ownership of the Edrington group who I think discontinued it in favor of age statement whiskies. But they may still produce it for other markets outside the UK but not that I am aware of, as I said I think it is no more, |

| I had feared as much. Mind you, our Liquor Control Board can be quite arbitrary in what they carry and when, but I'll shed a tear at the end of the road for that particular whiskey. I do love the Balvenie 21 yr. old but the last time I bought a bottle, it cost $350. (cdn). Short of a windfall of some sort, it's not in the budget. |
