I wonder if other people here have experienced the lack of wow factor in whiskies that I have of late,
I have been drinking whisky for 2 years now and lately I’ve struggled to find the wow factor I did when I first started.
I know my pallete is probably moved on from entry lvl whisky but I can’t afford the mega price whisky some people on here are able to enjoy please help.

Losing it after only 2 years seems quite premature. What whiskies gave you the Wow factor? What are you drinking now?

I think you answered your question yourself tho, if you stick to entry whiskies, then thats just what you get. They aren't really there to impress. Also you dont need big bucks to get good bottles. Not knowing what you have tried, maybe try some cask strength releases like Springbank 12, or some Indie bottles? Buy 1 less bottle but a good one, quality over quantity.

What Cobra failed to mention, is the fact he lives in Ontario as I do, and as such are limited by the borderline criminal enterprise known as the LCBO.

Is a system where even entry level bottles are priced astronomically. It is an extremely difficult Province to live in if you are a Scotch Whisky lover.

I've yet to buy a bottle that costs more than £200.

I'd say if you're looking for wow factor then it's time to move away from distillery core expressions and go for Indy Bottlers - like Cadenheads and so on. Also consider cask strength/single cask which you can pick up for around £50 +Whiskybroker is a good place to get those.

I ve tried quite a few in my first 2 years
The good ones being
Glenlivet 18
Ardbeg 10
Clinelish 14
Kilkerran 12
Highland park 18
Among others it’s the daily drams that are no longer doing it for me the regular supermarket whisky

Sometimes I go through periods where I don't come across any "wow" whiskies. Maybe it's just my frame of mind at the time, or maybe I just get unlucky for a few bottles.

I tend to shop in the £30 to £50 range where I've managed to pick up a few very good bottles this year that surprised on the upside:

- As We Get it Highland Cask Strength
- Kilkerran 8 Cask Strength
- Glenlivet Nadurra Peated Cask Finish
- Seaweed & Aeons & Digging & Fire - 10 year Islay

Notably a couple of the above are from unnamed distilleries. This seems to be where I'm finding some positive surprises these days - although also quite a lot of rubbish.

The wow factor sometimes comes when you least expect it, like the kilkerran, highland park 18, glenlivit 18, signet, and a few whisky society releases, hey cobra you missed the signet!!! Did you not get a wow at that time?

Try a Kilkerran Heavily peated Batch 3... Sounding imo.
