Relative newbie who has over the last few months collected around 20 bottles of half decent everyday malts and is on a learning road.
Early indications are that peat and smoke are to my taste but looking forward to tryng Speysides and Highland to see how I get on with them.
One dram I have bought from Amazon at a princeley £18 is Ardmore Legacy. Having tried my first dram I am really impressed by this fairly lowly example at the price. I get light peat, vanilla sweetness, hint of smoke.
I have a couple of Islays in my stable and this is no 10 year Ardbeg but with a few ml of water I think this is currently the best at the price I have tasted.
Give it a go - intrigied to see what more experienced drammers think. |

Not really experienced but my overriding memory of this, is that it was un-memorable, if that makes sense.
Usually this means for me it was an easy drinker with nothing standing out.
I haven't even written a note in my little black whisky book on it which surprised me, as i like to keep a record. Sad but true!
I was a fan of the Ardmore nas traditional casks which they stopped other than at duty free, and replaced wih this one. I think? Maybe this clouded my view as the trad cask to me had a unique flavour not replicated in this.
Saying all that, as you say its good value for a daily sipper so maybe I should give another a go.
Cheers.. |

| Never been wowed by it, but it's nice enough at £20 and under that's for sure! A little more peat than pretty much any other whisky in this price range other than the Aldi/Lidl Islay malts of course! |

| Try some of the independent bottlings of Ardmore, a very underrated distillery! Working my way through a bottle of Carn Mor 2011 just now, recommended. |
