Launched today. Sounds like I'd enjoy it.
Waited in the queue. Price? 143 quid. Wow. Walked away.
Put this up for info rather than restarting the price debate.
I guess those who REALLY want it will buy it and will discourage the second hand market. |

| I waited and got through too. But in seeing the price decided against it. |

Who knows. Usually the festival bottlings are 90 quid-or so and I was expecting that ball-park price .
Extra production costs? Dunno, but surely not 50 quid-ish worth.

I really love rye whisky and I was so looking forward to taste what a rye cask would do to Ardbeg juice, but there's only so much greed I can take from distilleries before I'm put off from buying their stuff.
I'm happy to be fleeced without complaints if you make me pay 85-90 quid for a novelty NAS, but for £150, dude, that money can buy you whiskies that are a work of art.
I'm frankly very disappointed about Ardbeg approach on this. |

I agree - I could have bought it but I did not - we have very few powers in our life, our buying power is one of the most important, so I decided not to encourage this kind of behaviour. NAS at about £150, no thanks. _________________ Love of Whisk(e)y and Other Quality Spirits |

I remember the days of other releases such as Alligator etc where people were saying the same thing. Look at the secondary value of these now.
Frankly - the price is the price. If it sells then it isn’t ‘overpriced’ to the market. Might be for us as lovers of whisky. But then you didn’t really expect more when a 5 yo Ardbeg is going for £35. I’m guessing the 10 is in line for a price increase (a’bunadh proportions) or to be discontinued. But then I’m over Ardbeg, the same way that I got over Mortlach, Glendronach and to a degree Balblair when they decided that marketing was going to lead the whisky, not the other way round. |
