I review auction sites to check how much some of my bottles are worth before cracking them open.

Considering its 43% & NAS am I missing some stories as to why it can fetch such a price

I dont get it, it was the inaugural release under the Portknockie label but it was only Â£35 a bottle, i guess some people who didnt get hold of a bottle wwere willing to pay mad prices at auction.

It is only a new whisky brand, not a new distillery or have I got it wrong. Although the Portknockie website gives the impression it is a distillery. It doesnâ€™t make sense selling for that price.

Is it just because some people get excited when they see the words inaugural or ballot lol

Wow, thatâ€™s quite a profit! I didnâ€™t even know there was a Portknockie whisky. I have stayed just up the road in Cullen twice for a couple of family holidays in recent years and itâ€™s a cool place (proper little fishing town with a good chippy) - but deffo no distillery! The nearest whisky connection would be the Inchgower distillery (a few miles away) which is closed to the public. Wonder if thatâ€™s where the whisky is made?
