Talisker 18 Year Old Price

When did Talisker 18 year old get so expensive, I had a few bottles tucked away and have recently finished the last of them and thought i would buy a bottle. I was shocked to find it priced at £175 a bottle https://www.thewhiskyexchange.com/p/4840/talisker-18-year-old It is a good whisky, its quality has varied over the years but it has always beeen a decent pour but I dont think I would be tempted to pay £175 for a bottle.

Yes a crazy price but no surprise as historically they have often struggled to keep up with demand for the 18 year old, it has been unavailable for periods in the past, i would guess they have taken stock of the amount of maturing stock and weighed it against how many people would be willing to pay this price.

at least its not up for raffle sorry ballot like the 25 year old ardbeg
its a shame i allways liked the 18 year old but its to much money for me
i didnt see the end of scotch whisky auctions if its cheap enough plus fees and postage
might be a different way to buy

i just looked at the prices from the auction thats just finished
£ 130 plus fees and postage probably about the same
