Not sure what you mean by all round but for the basic every day whisky from any the Islay distilleries core ranges Ardbeg 10 is a superb whisky.

Hi folks. I'm new here since today. I'm Thijs from Rotterdam, Holland.
I don't have that much experience with whisky coz I'm drinking it since two years now.
I've tried the most famous brands like Glenfiddich, Chivas Regal, Famous Grouse, Dimple, Highland Park and Glenlivet.
What I do know is that I'm hooked to the peaty whiskies from Islay. Concerning Islay's I have had the Signatory Coal Ila, Bowmore 10yo, Ardbeg Uigeadail, Ardbeg Blasda, Longrow CV Campbeltown and Cadenhead's Cask Strength (not opened yet)
On my wishlist are Lagavullin and Laphroaig because I hear very good comments about them here. Plus all the other (affordable) Ardbegs.

Ok back to the question: my absolute favourite up till now is the Uigeadail. Like an angel was peeing on my tongue when I tried it in a whiskystore in Scotland last summer.

Hi Ardbeggar and welcome to the forum

As you like the peated whisky and you already like Ardbeg you have got to try Ardbeg 10 year old, one of the best whiskies you can get for your money in my opinion. Others from Ardbeg which are excellent whiskies are Ardbeg Corryvreckan, Ardbeg 1990 Airigh Nam Beist, Ardbeg 17 Year old.

Given your liking for Ardbeg you should like Laphroaig 10 year old, 10 year old Cask Strength, 15 year old (if you can get it as they discontinued it), 18 year. Also Lagavullin 16 year old.

Given you liking for Ardbeg Uigeadail have you tried any of the heavily sherried whiskies such as Aberlour a'bunadh.

Thanks for the tips Charlie!
All the whiskies you mentioned are available in a whiskystore nearby and all in the same pricerange at about 50 euro so the choosing won't make it easier. They even have the Ardbeg Platinum 30yo and Single Cask 1976 32 yo, but those are kinda out of my reach with 300 and 900 euro's Wink
