Ardbeg Rollercoaster 57.3% ABV
Ardbeg's tenth anniversary committee bottling.
£50 (only availible to committee members of ardbeg)
Officially launching 15th February 2010 - the Ardbeg bottling of the decade
It has been created from whisky taken from rare casks from ten different years for true flavour of Ardbeg's history. it's a veritable cascade of booming peaty chords and tongue-tingling sweetness, documenting the distillery's outpourings from 1997 to 2006
Colour - Rich gold
Nose - An enormous whisky, a perfect fusion of sweetness, spice, creamy malt and deep smoke: a sensational example of multi-layered clasic ardbeg.
Fudge, burnt sugar and treacle toffee emerge first with peat encased in dark chocolate. cloves, cinnamon and nutmeg spices bring warmth and richness before a wave of iodine, coal tar and linseed oil takes hold. fresh top notes of menthol, fennel and pine resin lift you higher. dipping in further reveals deep notes of brambles and black cherries together with hallmark beeswax.
with water; smoke bellows from the glass with smoky chimmeyes, leafy bonfires and tea leaves. a stormy beach is discovered, covered with crispy seaweed, creostote and resinous tarry ropes. a bowlful of apples and pears awaits, dipped in toffee with dates and spices. smoky asparagus and sweet potato emerge with pepper and earthy peat
TASTE - big, rich and exceedingly smooth and peaty, the mouthfeel is at once creamy and chewy, coating the entire palate with wave of silk-velvet smoke.
fragrant peat smoke rolls over your tongue bringing black cherries, colves, chocolate ganache and fudge; a deliciously smoky dessert. a breeze of fresh coriander, menthol and violets lifts to the roof of your mouth, followed by chewy sugared almonds and tangy ime juice. waxy peat smoke constantly fills the palate with rolling cocoa, clotted cream and scented smoke from beginning to end
Finish - the taste refuses to go away. the finish is long and scented wit fragrant wood smoke, spices (cloves and aniseed) and clotted cream. |

Cheers JAB thanks for the heads up
You have to be quick these days to get a committee bottling before the collectors and profiteers snap them all up.

yea i know what you meen. i got my pack in from ardbeg this morning with all the info about it. it goes on sale on the 15th via the committee web site or you can order via post if you have the form included in the committee pack. they are giving you the chance to order two instead of the usual one. the price is £50 per bottle with £10 postage for two.
if you log onto ardbeg.com/rollercoaster it should tell you more info on the 15th or maybe sooner depending when it goes live.

Anyone know how many bottles are in the release, looks like it will be more than a usual Ardbeg Committee release if they are letting you have 2 bottles.

Calder | I just got word in the mail today about this release. I cant see it mentioned anywhere about the number of bottles in the release. Also will there be a general release after the Committee release anyone know.

Another Ardbeg. Happy Days!
As others have mentioned, it would be nice to know how many bottles are in the release.

I saw 5000 bottles mentioned on another site but dont quote me on that.
Also read that it is made up of:
1997 Cask: 2nd fill
1998 Cask: Refill Hogshead
1999 Cask: 1st Fill Barrel
2000 Cask: 1st Fill Barrel
2001 Cask: Refill Barrel
2002 Cask: Refill Barrel
2003 Cask: 1st Fill Barrel
2004 Cask: 1st Fill Barrel
2005 Cask: 2nd Fill Sherry Butt
2006 Cask: Refill Hogshead
Not sure if you would get 5000 bottles out of those barrels but just quoting what i have seen elsewhere. Anyway this whisky is effectively 3 year old whisky. I love Ardbeg but not sure i like this trend of young NAS whisky with big price tags.

I just got my Rollercoaster post from Ardbeg this morning. I think i may have one bottle but as Samson says I also do not like this trend of charging this kind of money for such young whisky. Ardbeg obviously know they can sell it at this price.

i would assume they will sort out the card orders first which they receive before Monday. For future ref. I would be interested to know how quickly you receive your bottles JAB |
