I am sure many of you have done it - blended together the last few drops from a couple of different bottles of malt whisky. I was sitting here this evening and just added my last drop of Macallan 18 year to some Laphroaig 10, about 4 parts Laphroaig and 1 part Macallan was the mix and i have to say i love it. Just wondered what you have thrown in together and how did it turn out.

I have done this a few times, thrown the remains of a couple of different malts together. One i done recently was put the remains of a bottle of Dalwhinnie 15 together with the Lagavulin 16, about 50ml of each. Seemed a good idea at the time, it turned out ok but probably would have been more emjoyable to finish seperately. I will need to try your Laphroaig/Macallan blend.

| Mac I will have to give the Laphroaig Macallan blend a go. I have tried mixing a few different blends of my own with smoky and sherried malts as i have a taste for both these types of malts but i have never produced anything that compliments each other. |

I have tried mixing the remains of a bottle of Ardbeg 10 and Laphroaig 10, maybe it was the ratio of the mix i used but i wouldnt advise it best drunk seperately.

I was given a bottle of bowmore as a gift but Im just not a fan of peaty whiskies. I tried to mix it with other remnants from my cupboard. The results were just terrible it has to be said. I eventually ended up with nothing pleasant left to drink as the bowmore overpowered the lot. Anyway for those of you who are more skilled in this art, I may have the perfect ingredient. I have 5 x 20cls of Glenfiddich 30 year old. Its an ideal size for experiments. You can have them for only £30 each which is an absolute steal given a 70cl bottle costs £183. I'll leave the mixing to the pros until the whisky mixing for dummies book come out. |

I have tried that before Mac, adding a touch of Macallan sherryoak to some Laphroaig and it does work very well, although i wasnt as extravagant as you i only used the 10 year old not the 18.

Dont Douglas Laing have their Double Barrel blended malt which is a blend of Laphroaig and Macallan. So you are not the only ones to think these two drams blend well together .
