Today Glenfiddich released their new 14 year old Glenfiddich Rich Oak single malt whisky which has been matured in virgin European oak casks.

It will be launched at Whisky Live, which takes place in London on the 26th and 27th February so look out for it if you are attending the event. For those not attending you can read a bit about it here:

I would be interested to try this, good to see a new whisky - especially a 14 year old whisky at a decent price. At first glance the look of the tube reminds me of the limited edition Glenfiddich Toasted Oak which i wish i had bought more of when it was available.

I see what you mean Hodge, the tube does have a look of the Toasted Oak about it.

Hi William

Do you know if this is a limited edition release or is it a permanent addition to the Glenfiddich range. Also is it to be released in the US.

Hi Mac,

Glenfiddich told me that The Rich Oak release is a new line extension. In terms of market availability it has just been released in the UK and it will shortly be available in France and global travel retail.

From September it will be available in Canada and at some point will also be made available in the US.

Sorren it has a RRP of £30.99, so it will probably be a few pound less when it gets to the big supermarkets.

It will be interesting to see how much spice the virgin European oak adds to it.

I believe it will be in the shops very soon as they officially launched it at whisky live London at the weekend. My guess would be you will start to see it in whisky shops and high street shop s within the month.
