First Edition: April 8-10 2010, Hotel 71, Chicago, USA
Interested to see how many whiskies end up becoming entrants. Maybe some new off the beaten track ones will be there. If anyone has any other information on this event let me know. |

| It is the first i have heard of this competition, i assume it is new. Not many entrants at the moment. As it stands the Whyte & Mackay brands will do well on its number of entries alone. It will need a lot more entrants than what they have listed on the site for there awards to be taken seriously. It is unique as it is a "whisky only" competition and it looks like it will be broadcast live on the internet. |

Yeh not many entrants and no mention, as far as i can see of categories. They do ask if you would like to become a judge at the 2010 International Whisky Competition on the judges page, all expenses paid I have been judging my own whisky for years, do you think that would qualify me.

Still only 34 entries and most of them are W & M. I see they have extended the deadline for entries to April 1st, 2010. They will need to get a last minute surge in entries for the competition to have any credibility. Also noticed they are charging $500 Canadian dollars per entry, perhaps a bit steep for a new whisky competition trying to establish itself. I would have thought just charge a small fee or even have no charge the first year to get the competition established. Anyway good luck to them.

I see they ended up with 47 entrants in the competition. Here is a copy of the results not really sure if they mean that much, at a quick glance half the entrants got an award. Perhaps this is no different from other whisky competitions.

I wouldnt be surprised if this is no different from many of the other awards, we always hear about the gold medal achievements but not what they were up against to win.
