Glasgow 1770 Bourbon Cask Matured 8 Year Old

30th October 2025
Glasgow 1770 expands its core range with a 1,400 bottle first batch limited release of a 8 Year Old lightly peated, Bourbon Cask Matured single malt.

Glasgow 1770 Bourbon Cask Matured 8 Year OldThe Glasgow Distillery has announced the latest addition to its acclaimed Glasgow 1770 collection – Glasgow 1770 Bourbon Cask Matured 8 Year Old single malt whisky. This new first batch limited release of 1,400 bottles marks the second expression in the distillery’s growing range of age-statement single malts, bottled at cask strength.

Building on the success of the Glasgow 1770 Ruby Port Cask Finish released earlier this year, the Bourbon Cask Matured expression is said to strike an ideal balance between two of the distillery’s hallmark whisky styles, crafted from a marriage of 50% unpeated double distilled and 50% peated double distilled spirit. The result they say is a whisky that perfectly encapsulates The Glasgow Distillery’s dedication to innovation and quality.

Matured exclusively in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels for a minimum of eight years, this expression is said to highlight the vibrant, tropical fruit character that forms the foundation of Glasgow Distillery’s double distilled spirit, complemented by a gentle sweetness and subtle smoke from the peated component.

This first batch is composed of six casks—three unpeated and three peated—and bottled at a robust 54% ABV. The 8 Year Old whisky is limited to just 1,400 bottles, available in the UK and select international markets, with an RRP of £57.

Mike Hayward, Founder of The Glasgow Distillery, commented: "Glasgow 1770 Ruby Port Cask Finish and Glasgow 1770 Bourbon Cask Matured embody our experimental spirit and expertise in cask management, bridging our well-loved Signature Range of peated, unpeated and triple distilled expressions and experimental Small Batch Series. These new annual bottling's showcase our favourite combination of whisky production styles and cask maturations.

"By focusing solely on bourbon cask maturation, this new release offers a pure expression of spirit-led character, celebrating the essence of The Glasgow Distillery’s craftsmanship without an overly heavy cask influence. Expect rich vanilla and floral honey, a gentle lick of sweet smoke, vibrant citrus fruit, buttery shortbread, and tropical undertones, leading to a long, warming finish."

The launch continues a milestone year for The Glasgow Distillery, which marked ten years of whisky production in March and introduced its first 10 Year Old Single Malt in April — a commemorative release that sold out in under 20 minutes. The distillery also opened its doors to visitors for the first time in July, with tours quickly selling out and further dates planned.

Adding to its achievements, The Glasgow Distillery has been shortlisted for Scottish Whisky Distillery of the Year at the upcoming Scottish Whisky Awards.

The Glasgow 1770 Bourbon Cask Matured will be released to the public and available in UK retail from Tuesday, 4th November. It will also feature at Glasgow’s Whisky Festival at Hampden Park on 8th November, where The Glasgow Distillery is proud to be the headline sponsor.
