The
GlenAllachie unveils 21 Year Old Cask
Strength Batch 7.

Speyside distillery The GlenAllachie has
added the latest release of its 21 Year
Old Cask Strength to its core range,
with Batch 7 showcasing the distillery’s
approach to long maturation and sherry
cask finishing.
The seventh batch of the 21 Year Old
expression occupies a prominent position
within The GlenAllachie's core
collection, drawing on whisky matured
across the distillery's 16 on-site
warehouses. At the heart of the release
is the combination of different cask
types, with Master Distiller Billy
Walker using decades of whisky-making
experience to select and marry casks for
the final expression.
The whisky begins its maturation in
bourbon barrels before undergoing an
extended secondary maturation in a
combination of Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso
sherry puncheons and hogsheads sourced
from Spain. The resulting single malt
delivers a rich and layered profile,
with notes of espresso, dark chocolate,
forest fruits and spiced plum.
Master Distiller at The GlenAllachie,
Billy Walker, commented: "When I took
stewardship of The GlenAllachie in 2017,
my ambition was to create whiskies that
reflected the very best of what patient
maturation and exceptional cask
selection can achieve. Our 21 Year Old
Cask Strength Batch 7 represents the
apex of that philosophy. Rather than
aiming for consistency from batch to
batch, we're always looking to improve
on what came before.
"Every incremental release is shaped by
the knowledge and feedback gained from
the last, allowing us to fine tune each
one. Batch 7 benefits from an extended
secondary maturation in the most
exquisite Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso
sherry casks, revealing opulent layers
of baked ginger and mocha, with a mānuka
honey and raisin buttercream finish. I
believe this is the finest expression of
our 21-year-old we've released to date."
The release comes as global interest in
The GlenAllachie 21 Year Old continues
to build, following its appearance in
the second season of Netflix’s Squid
Game.
Batch 7 is bottled at its natural cask
strength of 51.9% ABV, with no added
colouring or chill filtration,
preserving the whisky in its most
natural form.
The new expression follows the recent
release of Batch 13 of The
GlenAllachie's 10 Year Old Cask
Strength. Since its launch in 2018, the
10 Year Old expression has received
numerous awards, including the title of
World's Best Single Malt at the 2021
World Whiskies Awards.
The GlenAllachie 21 Year Old Cask
Strength Batch 7 has a RRP of £297.99
