Glencairn
'The World’s Favourite Whisky Glass'
marks sixth year supporting Bloody
Scotland Crime Writing Awards.

The iconic Glencairn Whisky Glass, known
globally as the official glass for
whisky, has once again raised a toast to
Scotland’s best crime writers. For the
sixth consecutive year, Scottish family
business Glencairn Crystal proudly
sponsored The McIlvanney Prize for the
Scottish Crime Book of the Year and the
Bloody Scotland Debut Crime Novel of the
Year at the Bloody Scotland
International Crime Writing Festival.
The festival, which was held in Stirling
from 12–14 September, brought together
writers and readers from around the
world to celebrate the art of crime
fiction. This year’s winners were:
- Tariq
Ashkanani, recipient of The
McIlvanney Prize for The Midnight
King.
- David
Goodman, winner of the Debut Prize
for his first novel A Reluctant Spy.
Ashkanani was presented with the
festival’s signature award – a giant
Glencairn Glass trophy – symbolising the
enduring partnership between Scottish
whisky culture and crime writing.
A Shared Celebration of Scottish
Creativity
Kirsty Nicholson, Design and Marketing
Manager at Glencairn Crystal, said:
“A huge congratulations to Tariq
Ashkanani on winning the McIlvanney
Prize with his page-turning thriller The
Midnight King, and to David Goodman on
receiving the Debut Prize for his
gripping first novel A Reluctant Spy. As
a Scottish family company, we are proud
to sponsor these distinguished awards
with the Glencairn Glass, both of which
are deeply rooted in Scotland. It is an
honour to help celebrate and shine a
spotlight on such exceptional authors in
the world of crime fiction.”
