Silver
anniversary celebrations for one of
whisky’s most famous icons as the
much-loved Glencairn Glass turns 25.

This year marks a landmark celebration
for Glencairn Crystal as the iconic
Glencairn Whisky Glass turns 25.
Since its debut in 2000, the Glencairn
Glass has become the definitive whisky
glass for distillers, connoisseurs, and
collectors worldwide. Crowned with the
Queen’s Award for Innovation, it has
cemented its status as a modern classic
— purpose-built to heighten the whisky
experience and now recognised as the
official glass of whisky.
"When I first sketched the idea for the
Glencairn Glass all those years ago, I
wanted to create a proper whisky glass,
something that would bring out the best
in the spirit that we hold so dear,"
said Raymond Davidson, the founder of
Glencairn Crystal and the creator of the
Glencairn Glass.
A Global Icon
A quarter of a century on, the Glencairn
Glass has become a global phenomenon.
More than 5 million are sold annually,
with over 50 million glasses enjoyed
across 140 countries to date. To put
that into perspective, stacking every
Glencairn Glass ever sold would stretch
nearly halfway to the Earth’s core — or
tower more than 650 times the height of
Mount Everest.
With its instantly recognisable tulip
silhouette, the glass has become a
fixture of whisky tastings, distillery
tours, and home collections alike. Its
elegant design not only enhances the
aroma and flavour of whisky, but also
embodies the craftsmanship, respect, and
passion of the industry — a glass
created by whisky lovers, for whisky
lovers.
A Global Glass Phenomenon
In the 25 years since its debut, the
Glencairn Glass has become a true icon
of the whisky world. Today, more than 5
million glasses are sold each year, with
over 50 million enjoyed across 140
countries to date. To put that
achievement into perspective: if every
Glencairn Glass ever made were stacked
one on top of another, the tower would
stretch almost to the Earth’s core — or
soar more than 650 times higher than
Mount Everest.
From distillery tours and whisky
tastings to home collections, the
Glencairn Glass is instantly
recognisable by its signature tulip
silhouette. Expertly crafted to
concentrate aromas and elevate every
sip, it has earned its place as the
official whisky glass, trusted by master
blenders, distillers, and whisky lovers
worldwide.
"To see the Glencairn Glass embraced by
whisky drinkers around the world over
the last twenty-five years has been
incredibly humbling and exciting. We
would like to thank the industry we love
for all their support over the years and
invite them to raise a Glencairn Glass
in celebration with us!" said Raymond.

the company has grown from a small
specialist glassware studio into a

industry. Today, it partners with more
than 600 distilleries worldwide, while
