Glencairn
Crystal celebrates Manufacturing
Innovation win at Made in Scotland
Awards 2025.

Glencairn
Crystal, the family-owned crystal
glassware specialist, has been awarded
Manufacturing Innovation at the
inaugural Made in Scotland Awards 2025.
This latest recognition follows a
landmark year for the business, which
also secured the prestigious King’s
Award for Enterprise for Innovation and
was named a finalist in the Department
for Business and Trade Exporter of the
Year Award at the Lloyds British
Business Excellence Awards. Together,
these achievements reinforce Glencairn
Crystal’s global reputation as a pioneer
in design and manufacturing.
Founded more than 40 years ago and
headquartered in East Kilbride, the
company has redefined the crystalware
industry worldwide. With a commitment to
both craftsmanship and technological
advancement, Glencairn Crystal has
become an international leader in
ultra-premium spirit decanters and
glassware. Its work in advanced
decoration techniques and innovative use
of metalware on glass and crystal
highlights its standing for innovation,
quality, and design excellence.
The inaugural Made in Scotland Awards,
organised by leading B2B media platform
Insider, took place on 25 September at
the Voco Grand Central Hotel in Glasgow.
Hosted by comedian Susie McCabe, the
event celebrated the breadth and
strength of Scotland’s manufacturing
sector, spanning industries from food
and drink to energy, transport, and
digital innovation. Winners will now
represent Scotland at the Made in the UK
Awards next year.
Glencairn Crystal was honoured with the
Manufacturing Innovation Award for its
ability to innovate at scale while
preserving its heritage. Judges
highlighted the company’s seamless
integration of traditional skills with
modern processes, driving meaningful
change in product design and production
while remaining true to its roots.
Best known for producing the Glencairn
Glass—the official glass of whisky
worldwide—the company is also
celebrating the iconic glass’s 25th
anniversary this year. More than five
million glasses are sold annually across
international markets, underlining
Glencairn’s global reach.
The award was accepted on behalf of the
company by James Crilly, Purchasing
Director, and Darren McGinn, Sales
Manager. Commenting on the win, James
Crilly said:
"Innovation has always been the driving
force behind everything we do at
Glencairn Crystal. From the earliest
days starting out over 40 years ago, to
becoming a global leader in premium
glassware, we’ve never stood still. This
award is not only a recognition of the
new techniques and technologies we’ve
introduced, but also of the passion and
craftsmanship of our entire team. We
will continue to push the boundaries
whilst staying true to our family values
and Scottish heritage."
