The
GlenDronach has released the next
instalment in its popular and highly
rated Cask Strength series, The
GlenDronach Cask Strength Batch 11,
which was matured in a combination of
Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso Spanish sherry
casks.
The GlenDronach Distillery
has released the next instalment in its richly sherried
single malt Cask Strength series. As we
have come to expect from the so far
excellent series The GlenDronach Cask
Strength Batch 11 is said to boast exceptional
depths of sherry wood maturation,
continuing the legacy set out by
distillery founder James Allardice in
1826, which marries Highland spirit to
Spanish oak.
The GlenDronach Cask Strength offers
connoisseurs a deep insight into the
distillery’s character, by bottling at
the whisky’s natural cask strength, as
was the custom before the turn of the
20th Century.
This eleventh batch of The
GlenDronach Cask Strengthhas been
bottled at what should be a flavoursome
59.8% ABV, the richly
sherried Highland Single Malt Scotch
Whisky, was matured slowly in a
combination of fine Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks.
The distillery tells me that
Master Blender Dr Rachel Barrie
intricately composes each marriage of
The GlenDronach Highland Single Malt for
the deepest colour, with the exquisite
duality of the Andalucían casks bringing
depth, character and complexity to the
robust Highland spirit.
She commented: "This eleventh batch of
The GlenDronach Cask Strength embodies
The GlenDronach‘s celebrated style of
Spanish Oak maturation in fine Pedro
Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks from
Andalucía.
"Add a drop or two of water to this
latest expression to reveal a cornucopia
of flavour - from richly spiced bramble
wine and treacle toffee, to lingering
Seville orange peel and nutmeg layered
with caramel and maraschino cherry."
The
GlenDronach Cask Strength Batch 11 has
been bottled non chill filtered and as
with all expressions of The GlenDronach,
all of its colour has been naturally
drawn from the time it spent slowly
maturing in Spanish oak casks.
The GlenDronach Cask
Strength Batch 11 has a RRP of £68 but
be warned given the quality of previous
batches these Cask Strength releases
tend to sell out quickly so grab it
while you can, it
will
be
available from specialist online whisky
shops such
as
The Whisky Exchange,
The Whisky Shop,
Hard To Find Whisky
and
