The Official Single Malt of Edinburgh Rugby, Glen Moray releases a limited edition 15 Year Old Homecoming Edition to celebrate the club's first ever permanent home: DAM Health Stadium.

Glen Moray 15 Year Old Edinburgh Homecoming EditionThe Official Single Malt of Edinburgh Rugby, Glen Moray, today released an exclusive new whisky to celebrate the construction and completion of the club’s first ever permanent home: DAM Health Stadium.

Glen Moray 15 Year Old ‘Homecoming Edition’ has been fully matured in sherry casks at the distillery in Elgin and the bottle and box features graphics of the capital team’s new home, with its signature burnt orange posts, on the pack design.

Proudly situated on the doorstep of BT Murrayfield, home of the Scotland national team, the new £5.7 million ground can hold 7,774 loyal fans on match day – all within a heartbeat of the action thanks to covered stands and safe standing areas lining every side of the pitch.

Having played all over the city, from Goldenacre to Jock’s Lodge, Murrayfield to Meadowbank in their illustrious 149-year history, this is the club’s first ever permanent home.

James Collins, Glen Moray’s UK Marketing Manager, hopes that loyal Edinburgh Rugby fans will snap up one of the 1000 limited edition bottles being released to mark this momentous occasion with a dram.

He commented: "As the Official Single Malt Whisky partner of Edinburgh Rugby, we’re thrilled that the club is home at last. We’re marking the moment with our very special Homecoming Edition – a glorious 15-year-old whisky that is a fitting tribute to this exciting new era for the club and for rugby in Edinburgh. It has been selected and bottled especially for the fans: a perfect pre or post-match warmer for the cold winter nights, with all the rich, sweet notes you’d expect from Glen Moray’s classic Speyside whisky when it has been matured in sherry casks."

The road to their new stadium has been a long one for Edinburgh Rugby, with the pandemic delaying construction in the final stretch. However, now at home in their new surroundings, the club’s homecoming has been worth the wait with record crowds attending Edinburgh Rugby’s opening United Rugby Championship fixtures.

Edinburgh Rugby Managing Director Douglas Struth said: "It’s brilliant that we’re able to commemorate such a special season in the club’s history alongside our Official Single Malt Whisky Partner, Glen Moray. The Homecoming Edition is a truly unique and iconic bottle, which is fitting as we pay tribute to a season 149 years in the making. We hope supporters really get behind this special edition bottle this festive season and raise a glass to both Glen Moray and our homecoming year."

Glen Moray Homecoming Edition is bottled at 40% ABV in 70cl bottles with a RRP of £60. The release is limited to only 1000 bottles which are available to buy in person from the Inverarity Morton Bottle Shop at Bonnie & Wild in Edinburgh’s St James Quarter or by emailing IMbottleshop@inveraritymorton.com.

If you are not in Edinburgh you will find the current Glen Moray range available from specialist online whisky retailers such as The Whisky Exchange, Amazon and Master of Malt

Producer's Tasting Notes:

Nose: Notes of figs and raisins combine with warming scents of toasted nuts, tobacco and leather, reminiscent of an autumn day.

Taste: A nutty bouquet and notes of polished oak meet lip-tingling tannins, accompanied by a mouth-coating sweetness.

Finish: Long, lingering perfumed sweetness fades to gentle spice.
