Review of the
contrasting Glen Moray 2014 Tequila Cask
Finish and Glen Moray 2014 Peated
Tequila Cask Finish single malts, the
distillery's latest limited edition
releases in their experimental Warehouse
1 Collection.

Glen Moray distillery in Speyside
recently unveiled two new
limited-edition single malt whiskies —
the Glen Moray Tequila Cask Finish and
the Glen Moray Peated Tequila Cask
Finish — as the latest chapter in their
innovative Warehouse 1 Collection cask
exploration journey.
Glen Moray’s Warehouse 1 Collection
takes its name from the distillery’s
iconic blue warehouse, where the team's
most experimental casks are carefully
matured. Each release offers a rare and
limited-edition expression of Glen
Moray’s classic Speyside character — a
true discovery for adventurous whisky
drinkers and collectors alike. This
latest two distinctive single malts
releases in the Warehouse 1 Collection
mark Glen Moray’s debut in Tequila cask
maturation, which they say offer an
intriguing balance of sweetness and
herbal character.
Non-chill filtered and bottled at cask
strength with natural colour, these
whiskies promise a memorable experience
for both peat enthusiasts and admirers
of Glen Moray’s signature smooth, fruity
Speyside style.
The small-batch releases stay true to
Glen Moray’s spirit of discovery,
showcasing the distillery’s ongoing
fascination with how different casks
shape a whisky’s character.
The Glen Moray Tequila Cask Finish
begins with eight years of maturation in
Bourbon casks before being transferred
to Tequila barrels for its final
flourish. The result is they say is a
dram that enhances Glen Moray’s
signature smooth, fruity profile with
added layers of complex sweetness.
In a bold contrast, the team
experimented with their lightly peated
spirit, finishing another eight-year-old
Bourbon-matured batch in Tequila casks
to create the Glen Moray Peated Tequila
Finish. They say that this indulgent
whisky reveals rich aromas of dark
chocolate and captivating flavours of
smoked banana.
Glen Moray Global Brand Ambassador Iain
Allan commented: "With the innovative
whiskies of our Warehouse 1 Collection,
we invite whisky lovers to explore a
raft of intriguing new flavours. And for
this tenth release, we are celebrating
our first-ever experiments with Tequila
casks, resulting in two small-batch
releases which take our smooth, fruity
single malt to new heights. Uniting
vanilla softness with subtle citrus and
thyme, Glen Moray Tequila Cask Finish
magnifies our whisky’s sweet complexity,
while Glen Moray Peated Tequila Finish
is an intriguingly floral and smoky
single malt. They will make the perfect
gift for any inquisitive whisky lover
this festive season."
The Glen Moray Tequila Cask Finish (RRP
£85) and Glen Moray Peated Tequila
Finish (RRP £95) are presented in 70cl

Tasting Notes:
Nose: Inviting
gentle aromas of creamy vanilla and honey
open the dram, layered with notes of
fresh apple, lemon, and a hint of
sugared raisin. Subtle almond adds
warmth and depth to the aromatic
sweetness.
Taste: A
vibrant burst of spiced apple leads,
wrapped in gentle earthy tones and
smooth milk chocolate. Sweet oak and a
touch of pepper develop mid-palate,
lifted by a lively flourish of zesty
lemon and just a wee hint of lime.
Finish: Longish,
with the soft earthiness remaining as
apple and citrus notes intertwine with
sweet, peppered oak. The finale is
slightly drying, leaving a satisfying
echo of seasoned oak wood and spice to
have the final say.
Comment:
A beautifully balanced exploration of
sweetness and spice, showing how Tequila
cask influence can elevate Glen Moray’s
classic Speyside style. The nose is
bright yet comforting, with honey and
vanilla giving way to fresh orchard
fruit and a delicate nuttiness. On the
palate, the interplay of spiced apple,
gentle earthiness, and creamy chocolate
adds real depth and texture, while the
citrus lift keeps everything lively and
refreshing. The finish ties it all
together—long, lightly drying, and
satisfyingly oaky. A distinctive and
refined dram that captures both elegance
and a touch of adventure.
