Highland Park 12 Year Old Review

With the darker nights closing in and Christmas fast approaching there are bound to be numerous offers on Scotch single malt whiskies available in the big High Street supermarkets so I thought I would make a few suggestions during the run up to Christmas for those gift buyers looking for a special Scotch malt whisky Christmas gift.

A Scotch single malt whisky which you will often find on offer in the supermarkets in the run up to Christmas is an old favourite of mine, the Highland Park 12 year old. What many refer to as an all round malt, which simply means it offers a bit of everything. Bottled at 40% ABV.

Highland Park 12 Year Old ReviewWilliam Morrison's Tasting Notes:

Nose: A lovely heather honey and barley sweetness and very mild peaty smokiness, hint of sweet sherry.

Taste: Lovely malty notes coated in a gentle heather honey sweetness. A very subtle smoke hovers in the background accompanied by just a touch of citrus fruit.

Finish: A touch of vanilla, heather honey, a mildly drying subtle peat.

Comment: It really does offer a bit of everything, honey, barley, fruit, oak, spice and a lovely touch of peaty smoke. A classic island dram which any whisky drinker would be happy to find in their stocking, look out for offers.

SMW Score 88/100

Highland Park 12 year old is available from all High Street supermarkets such as Tesco and also from specialist online whisky shops such as The Whisky Exchange
