add a 15 year old expression to their
permanent core range.
 Highland
Park has added a new permanent 15 Year
Old expression to their core range.
The new Highland Park 15 Year Old is the
creative work of Master Whisky Maker,
Gordon Motion, the 15 Year Old contains
a high percentage of first-fill European
oak sherry seasoned casks which delivers
a warm, dry spicy note whilst first-fill
American oak sherry seasoned casks back
this up with notes of vanilla and crème
brûlée. A small proportion of refill
casks allow the DNA of Highland Park
whisky to shine through, namely its
gentle heather peat and lightly fruity
character.
The new Highland Park 15 Year Old Viking
Heart expression will be available
globally from this month. Presented in a
heavily embossed creamy white ceramic
bottle which has been created in
partnership with renowned specialists UK
based Wade Ceramics; the inspiration of
which, came from ancient earthenware
vessels which the whisky would have been
stored a century or two ago at the
distillery.

The Highland Park fans amongst you will
recall a few different Highland Park 15
year old expressions over the
years, in the early 2000's there was 15
Year Old core range expression launched,
it was smoky and spicy but never had the
high quality of the 12 and 18 year old
expressions of that time and was dropped
from the range and over the years there
have been a few limited edition HP
expressions bottled at 15 years, one
outstanding HP 15 which I recall was the
Highland Park Loki. This new Highland
Park 15 Year Old is bottled at 44% ABV
and has a RRP of £80, I haven't had a
chance to taste it so I cannot comment
on its quality but hopefully they have
produced something worthy of the asking
price.

Colour:
Natural cask driven colour, light
golden, clear and bright.
Nose/Taste:
Aromas of charred cinnamon shards,
mellow smoke from Orkney’s unique
heather peat; warm vanilla sponge cake,
sun-kissed lemon zest, fresh pineapple,
and rich heather honey
Finish:
A complex and rich finish lingers with a
gentle aromatic peat smoke.
