Whisky Focus - Highland Park 2020 The New Year Ahead

Following an extended festive break at the Highland Park distillery on the Orkney Islands the team are now back to work, taking stock and preparing for the New Year of 2020 ahead.

They tell me that their new experience store which they opened in Kirkwall is proving popular with both tourists and locals and they are enjoying being in the centre of town and being very much part of the vibrant community. They will be continuing to develop local collaborations and support local businesses in the year ahead. They are excited about working with a local chocolatier company called Mirrie Dancers and a craft vinegar producer, Orkney Craft Vinegar. In the short term, these products will only be available to buy from Orkney.

The team at the Highland Park distillery has been expanded in time to support the enhanced tour offerings for the tourist season starting from March. They have brought in a full-time local Brand Ambassador and two full-time Senior Tour Guides as this year they plan to offer more tours including a dram of their 50 Year Old which should literally top off a trip to Highland Park for any whisky enthusiast.

Their focus in 2020 will see them deliver several exciting new developments including - a new Highland Park Cask Strength permanent expression which is scheduled for early summer, a new three part Viking Series focused on more Nordic mythology and with more illustrative artwork in late summer and they will be topping of the year with a new 50 Year Old around Christmas time.

They will also be continuing to build on their single cask offerings as well as stretching into older casks too. I should have more information over the coming months and will keep you updated
