Sarah Burgess as its new Master of
Whisky Creation.
International
Beverage, a leading global spirits
company, has appointed Sarah Burgess as
its new Master of Whisky Creation.
In this newly created role, Sarah will
lead a team of expert whisky makers,
driving the company’s commitment to
producing distinctive, flavour-led
whiskies. She will also work closely
with the global brand advocacy team,
bringing her technical expertise to life
and building deeper connections across
International Beverage’s portfolio of
premium Scotch whisky brands, which
includes Old Pulteney, Balblair,
Speyburn and anCnoc single malts, as
well as Hankey Bannister blended whisky.
Sarah brings over 25 years of experience
to the role. Originally from Speyside,
she began her career at Cardhu
Distillery on her 21st birthday, later
joining Diageo’s Auchroisk Distillery in
2003 to oversee maturation operations in
the North while completing a BA (Hons)
in Management at Robert Gordon
University, Aberdeen. Over the following
two decades, she held key leadership
roles at Oban, Glenkinchie and Clynelish
distilleries before becoming Lead Whisky
Maker at The Macallan in 2017, where she
specialised in range development,
innovation and quality.
In 2022, she was named Creative Director
of The Craigellachie Collection, before
moving to The Lakes Distillery as Whisky
Maker in 2023. There, she managed
distillation and maturation, launched
the distillery’s first permanent whisky
range, and oversaw both visitor
experiences and new product development.
Celebrated for her creativity and
forward-thinking approach, Sarah’s
appointment comes at a pivotal time as
International Beverage continues to
innovate and expand within the premium
whisky sector.
Welcoming her appointment, International
Beverage Managing Director Malcolm Leask

Speaking on her appointment, Sarah
