Johnnie Walker Vault A Blend Crafted From Some Of Scotland's Most Exceptional Whiskies

23rd October 2026
Johnnie Walker Vault launches as brand's first permanent prestige whisky.

Johnnie Walker Vault

Johnnie Walker has unveiled Johnnie Walker Vault, a new luxury blended Scotch whisky that celebrates Scotland's whisky-making heritage through an exceptional blend of rare, historic and contemporary whiskies. Created by Johnnie Walker Master Blender Dr Emma Walker, the new release marks the brand’s first permanent prestige whisky expression.

Launched on October 2026, Johnnie Walker Vault represents the pinnacle of the brand’s blending expertise, bringing together exceptional Scotch whiskies from across Scotland in a blend inspired by the country’s landscapes, history and traditions.

The whisky takes its name from the Johnnie Walker Vault, a creative atelier located beneath The Johnnie Walker Experience in Edinburgh. This specialist blending space houses a rotating collection of 500 whiskies drawn from Diageo’s rare and ghost distillery stocks, personally curated by Dr Emma Walker. Selected from a portfolio of more than 10 million casks of Scotch whisky available to her, these exceptional spirits provide the ingredients for the new expression.

Drawing on both Scotland’s distilling heritage and its modern revival, Dr Walker has combined historic single malts from closed distilleries with contemporary whiskies to create a blend that bridges generations of Scotch whisky production.

A particularly significant component is highly aged Brora single malt whisky, distilled before the Highland distillery closed in 1983. This is brought together with younger Brora whisky distilled after the distillery reopened following decades of dormancy, marking the first time the younger spirit has been incorporated into a Johnnie Walker creation. The combination brings together different chapters in the distillery’s history, adding depth and character to this distinctive blended Scotch whisky.

Described as a personal tribute to Scotland, Johnnie Walker Vault reflects Dr Emma Walker’s connection to her homeland. Inspired by the Scottish Highlands and the North Sea, the blend aims to capture the character of the country's landscapes and the memories associated with them, translating these influences into a whisky that celebrates Scotland's enduring place in the world of Scotch.

Dr Emma Walker, Johnnie Walker Master Blender, said: "Johnnie Walker Vault is what I’ve called my love letter to Scotland - a truly special country to which I hold a deep connection. The creation of this whisky - a hand-selected blend of our extraordinary whiskies from across Scotland – is my way to express that."

Johnnie Walker Vault is available exclusively from Harrods in London, The Johnnie Walker Experience in Edinburgh and online through Justerini & Brooks, with sales commencing.

Priced at a recommended retail price of £1,100 per bottle, this new permanent prestige release represents a significant addition to the Johnnie Walker portfolio, showcasing Dr Emma Walker’s blending expertise and the extraordinary range of rare Scotch whiskies available to her.

Johnnie Walker Vault Review

Bottled at 43.8% ABV.

Producer's Tasting Notes:

Nose: On the nose, the new Johnnie Walker Vault expression greets you with hints of butterscotch and salted caramel that give way to summer in the Highlands with wildflowers, green hills and fragrant barley before developing into toasted oak and a whisper of distinct driftwood bonfire.

Taste: On the palate, notes of vanilla, chopped almonds, frangipane tarte and Scottish raspberries build to elegant tropical fruits against a backdrop of subtle incense and rich charred oak, and finally malty sweetness greets you before slowly fading into hints of vintage leather and tobacco.

Finish: There is a structured finish with well-integrated flavours of apricot and sweet raspberry and a hint of crème anglaise that’s balanced by gentle warming spices and a rich complexity.
