Kilchoman distillery based on the
rugged west coast of Islay is
celebrating 20 years of whisky
production with the release of the
Kilchoman 20th Anniversary Cask Series,
for which they have selected 20 casks to
create 4 single malt whiskies, 2
ex-bourbon editions, a 14 Year Old and a
18 Year Old, and 2 ex-sherry
expressions, a 14 Year Old and a 15 Year
Old.
Kilchoman has selected 20 Casks to
celebrate of two decades of distilling
at the Islay farm distillery, these 20
casks are said to embody the signature
flavour profile that defines Kilchoman —
a testament to the unwavering dedication
to craft since day one.
The 20 casks were hand-selected by
Kilchoman Founder Anthony Wills, each
cask reflects the passion, expertise,
and persistence of the entire Kilchoman
team.
The 20 casks selected for the Kilchoman 20th Anniversary Cask Series
will be released in 4 bottling's, each
comprising of a vatting of five of the specially
chosen casks. Together, they showcase
the two defining styles of Kilchoman
maturation which whisky fans have become
familiar with over the past 20 years:
ex-bourbon and ex-sherry. There are 2
ex-bourbon editions, a 14 Year Old and a
18 Year Old, which Kilchoman tells me
reveals bright
citrus sweetness layered with maritime
peat smoke, while the 2 ex-sherry
expressions, a 14 Year Old and a 15 Year
Old, are said to offer a deeper, richer
character marked by dried fruits, BBQ
smoke, and warming spices.

The Kilchoman 20th Anniversary Cask
Series will be priced between £120 and
£190 and will soon be available from specialist online whisky
