Kingsbarns
launches The Cambo Collection with a 10
Year Old autumn-inspired single malt,
the new annual limited-edition series
explores the Fife distillery's
connection with the Cambo Estate and its
agricultural heritage.
What does a place taste like? For
Kingsbarns Distillery, the answer begins
at home. Set within the historic Cambo
Estate in Fife, Kingsbarns Distillery
has a close connection with the land and
agricultural heritage that surrounds it.
From the estate's farmland and historic
buildings to the barley and other
locally sourced ingredients used in
whisky production, the character of the
place is an important part of the
distillery’s identity.
Now, Kingsbarns is putting that sense of
place at the heart of a new annual
limited-edition series. The Cambo
Collection will explore different
aspects of the Cambo Estate, its
history, landscape and farming heritage,
while reflecting Kingsbarns’ continuing
relationship with its Fife home.
The inaugural release, The Cambo
Collection: First Edition, begins that
journey with a 10 Year Old Lowland
Single Malt Scotch Whisky inspired by
autumn at Cambo Estate.
Matured in STR (shaved, toasted and
re-charred) casks, the first expression
has been created to capture the warmth
and seasonal character of the estate as
autumn arrives. The Kingsbarns
whisky-making team selected the casks
from its maturing stocks to complement
the distillery’s naturally light and
fruity house style with additional
richness, sweetness and spice.
The whisky is said to open with aromas
of baked apple, cinnamon, bramble jam
and blackcurrant, before developing into
flavours of warm cinnamon rolls, vanilla
icing, plummy dark fruits and baking
spice. A long, warming finish brings
cracked black pepper alongside lingering
sweetness and spice, creating a
distinctly autumnal Lowland single malt.
A whisky
collection rooted in Cambo Estate
The Cambo Collection is designed to tell
the story of Kingsbarns' home over a
number of years, with each annual
release focusing on a different aspect
of the estate and its connection to the
distillery.
One of the most visible links to Cambo's
agricultural past is the historic Doocot,
built in 1800 and one of the few
surviving buildings from the estate’s
former working farm. Today, the building
sits at the heart of Kingsbarns
Distillery, providing a tangible
connection between the estate’s
agricultural history and modern whisky
production.
That relationship between land, farming
and Scotch whisky will continue to
influence future releases in The Cambo
Collection. Rather than attempting to
tell the complete story of Cambo in one
bottling, Kingsbarns will use each
annual limited edition to explore
another element of its surroundings,
from the estate’s agricultural landscape
and farming heritage to locally sourced
barley and the distillery’s own
development.
For Peter Holroyd, Distillery Manager at
Kingsbarns Distillery, the collection
provides an opportunity to explore how
the estate influences the whisky made
there.
Peter said: "Cambo is more than just the
place where we make our whisky – it is
part of its character. The fields, the
farming heritage, the buildings and the
landscape that surrounds us all
contribute to the story we’re telling at
Kingsbarns.
"For The Cambo Collection: First
Edition, we wanted to give ourselves the
space to explore that story properly,
rather than trying to capture everything
in a single release. Each year will
reveal a different side of our home,
while remaining unmistakably Kingsbarns.
"For our first bottling we wanted to
capture Cambo as it moves into autumn.
The STR casks bring richness, warmth and
spice to our naturally light and fruity
house style, creating a whisky that
feels incredibly connected to the season
and the place that inspired it."
Cambo Estate
inspires the packaging
The connection with Cambo Estate
continues through the presentation of
The Cambo Collection: First Edition. The
packaging draws directly on the
architecture and agricultural character
of the East Newhall farm steading, where
Kingsbarns Distillery is located.
The textured carton takes inspiration
from the estate’s distinctive Doocot,
with a die-cut aperture reflecting its
characteristic arched frames. A
barley-gold label meanwhile references
Fife’s long-standing farming tradition
and its importance as a barley-growing
region.
James Erskine, Director of Cambo Estate,
said: "Cambo has a long agricultural
history, and it’s great to see that
heritage celebrated through The Cambo
Collection. The old farm buildings have
been lovingly restored and given a new
purpose as part of Kingsbarns
Distillery, creating a connection
between the site’s agricultural past and
its life today.
"This collection feels like a fitting
tribute to that history and the
character of the place."
With The Cambo Collection: First
Edition, Kingsbarns Distillery begins an
annual series that looks beyond the
whisky itself to explore the estate,
landscape and agricultural heritage that
have helped shape the identity of this
modern Fife distillery.
Just 640 cases of Kingsbarns The Cambo
Collection: First Edition 10 Year Old
have been produced for release across
the UK and European Union. The whisky is
non-chill filtered, bottled at 46% ABV
and priced from £65. It will be
available from tomorrow 8 October 2026 from
specialist online whisky shops such as
The Whisky Exchange
and
