Loch Lomond
Group has acquired the New York
Distilling Company which produces the
Jaywalk Rye Whiskey brand, a standout in
the American Whiskey category. Jaywalk
features multiple expressions, each
built around the rare Horton Heirloom
Rye—an ancient grain originally brought
from Europe to the New World in the 17th
century.

Following the recent announcement of a
new distillery and visitor centre set to
open in Luss, Dunbartonshire in June
2025, the Loch Lomond Group has
confirmed its latest strategic
acquisition: the New York Distilling
Company (NYDC) and its associated
brands.
This acquisition marks a significant
step in the Loch Lomond Group’s
expansion, introducing American Whiskey
into its growing portfolio of premium
spirits. NYDC’s distinctive range now
joins a stable of award-winning brands,
including Loch Lomond Single Malt Scotch
Whisky—recognised as the fastest-growing
single malt globally in 2021 and 2023 by
IWSR—Glen Scotia, Littlemill, Glen's
Vodka (one of the UK’s leading spirit
brands), Ben Lomond Gin, and Champagne
Piaff, known for its contemporary
positioning and accolades.
At the heart of NYDC’s offering is the
"Jaywalk Rye Whiskey" brand, a standout
in the American Whiskey category.
Jaywalk features multiple expressions,
each built around the rare Horton
Heirloom Rye—an ancient grain originally
brought from Europe to the New World in
the 17th century.
This once-forgotten rye variety, which
was widely used in 17th and 18th-century
New York, had nearly vanished until 2015
when Cornell University’s seed bank
gifted NYDC just 10 seeds. Since then,
NYDC has successfully cultivated the
grain in partnership with farmers in
Seneca Falls, New York. Today, Horton
Rye is once again being distilled in New
York, bringing the rich flavours of
America’s whiskey heritage back to life.

Whiskey enthusiasts can now rediscover
these long-lost flavours through Jaywalk
Rye’s various expressions, including
straight rye, bonded rye, and 100%
heirloom rye varieties—each offering a
taste of the original spirit not enjoyed
in over 150 years.
In addition to Jaywalk, the NYDC
portfolio includes other standout labels
such as Mister Katz’s Rock & Rye,
Dorothy Parker Gin, and Perry Tot’s Navy
Strength Gin.
Based in the creative and culturally
rich borough of Brooklyn, New York, NYDC
reflects the city’s bold, independent
spirit. Its brands are steeped in
heritage yet driven by
innovation—breaking convention while
honouring tradition. Jaywalk Rye in
particular captures this ethos: a
whiskey that is unapologetically
confident, crafted with purpose, and
unmistakably modern. True to its
origins, it proudly declares: "Born in
Brooklyn, Made in New York."
This acquisition is a natural fit for
the Loch Lomond Group, reinforcing its
position in the premium spirits market
and marking a pivotal move into the
dynamic American Whiskey space.
Colin Matthews, Founder and CEO of Loch
Lomond Group, said: "This acquisition
represents another milestone in the
continued growth of the Loch Lomond
Group. We look forward to working
closely with the talented and ambitious
team at NYDC to invest in both the
facilities and products, while
supercharging its growth both
domestically in the US and around the
world through the existing Loch Lomond
Group distribution network as well as
providing our help and expertise in the
continued creation of fabulous
flavours."
Allen Katz and Tom Potter, Founders of
the New York Distilling Company, said:
"We are excited to work with Colin and
the Loch Lomond Group team to help us
further grow our fantastic brands around
the world. Loch Lomond Group has a
strong track record of success, winning
multiple major awards over many years
for its whisky brands of Loch Lomond
Whiskies, Glen Scotia, Littlemill and
High Commissioner and with sales in over
120 countries around the world, we can’t
wait to introduce NYDC’s brands to many
of the key whiskey markets over the next
period."
This announcement comes on the heels of
a period of strong global growth and
innovation for Loch Lomond Group’s
brands, further cementing its industry
leadership. The momentum is underscored
by five products being shortlisted for
Best in Class at the prestigious San
Francisco World Spirits
Competition—including two standout
entries that scored an impressive
99/100: Glen Scotia 25 Year Old and Loch
Lomond Whiskies’ Remarkable Stills
Alchemy expression.
