Independent
bottler Murray McDavid is set to open a
new whisky shop at the Old Bank on
Forres High Street in Speyside this
Friday 4th April.

Aceo Ltd, the Scotch whisky specialist
and owner of the independent
bottler Murray McDavid, has announced
that they will be opening a Murray
McDavid Whisky Shop at The Old Bank in
Forres, Speyside. The whisky shop which
opens later this week will be housed in
the historic former Bank of Scotland
building on Forres High Street, which
dates back to 1852, this exciting
venture underscores Aceo’s commitment to
Forres and its rich whisky heritage.
With its brand home at Dallas Dhu House
on St. Leonard’s Road and the recent
acquisition of the historic Dallas Dhu
Distillery on the town’s outskirts, Aceo
is deeply invested in revitalising
Forres as a whisky destination. The
company plans to restore the
19th-century distillery and resume
whisky production on-site for the first
time since 1983, transforming it into a
world-class visitor attraction. Together
with the launch of the new whisky shop,
this initiative is set to create
employment opportunities and drive
tourism to the area.
For over a decade, Aceo has played a key
role in the Spirit of Speyside Whisky
Festival, hosting sought-after whisky
events and tastings that draw visitors
from around the world. Now, with the
addition of both the shop and the
distillery, Aceo’s presence in the
whisky world is set to grow even
further.

At the heart of
the new shop will be Murray McDavid,
Aceo’s premium whisky brand, celebrated
globally for its exceptional Scotch
whiskies—many of which are exclusive to
the store. More than just a retail
space, The Old Bank is set to become a
vibrant whisky hub, featuring a whisky
club, bar, food offerings, private event
space, and immersive tasting
experiences. Whether locals or visitors,
whisky enthusiasts will find a welcoming
place to explore and enjoy the world of
Scotch whisky.
"It's going to be a wonderful moment for
us to open the doors of the Murray
McDavid Whisky Shop at The Old Bank and
bring this unique whisky experience to
the heart of the Forres community," said
Edward Odim, Aceo’s Managing Director.
"We’re incredibly proud to revive such a
beautiful and historic building,
transforming it into a vibrant, modern
retail experience where locals and
visitors can connect over great whisky.
We are also pleased to be creating jobs,
attracting tourists, and adding to the
life of the town — we want to put Forres
on the map as a must-visit destination
for whisky lovers."
The Murray McDavid Whisky Shop at The
Old Bank will officially open to the
public on Friday, April 4, 2025. Guests
can look forward to a wide selection of
Murray McDavid’s whiskies,

knowledgeable whisky specialists, and a
