North Star
Spirits crowned Independent Bottler of
the Year for the third time.
The Scottish Whisky Awards 2023 marked a
historic moment as North Star Spirits
triumphed over long established,
much larger competitors, claiming the
Independent Bottling championship for
the third time in just four years.
Among North Star’s impressive liquid
collection, a remarkable 12 of its
whiskies were nominated for taste
excellence. Among these, 2 earned Gold,
1 secured Silver, and 2 proudly took
home Bronze awards at the prestigious
Scottish Whisky Awards.
Picking up Gold awards were North Star
2012 Linkwood 11 Year Old and
Obscurities & Curiosities 2008
Glentauchers Obscurity 14 Year old
Single Malt Scotch Whiskies. Taking a
Silver medal was North Star Glenburgie
27 Year Old, and Bronze medals went to
their Campbeltown 8 Year Old and
Bruichladdich 12 Year Old independent
bottling's.
Judges of The Awards praised a
sensational year for North Star by
saying "The company has a great
entrepreneurial spirit and ethos with
fabulous initiatives and their brand
essence comes across in everything they
do. North Star are relatively small but
are making a huge splash within the
industry."
Iain Croucher, North Star Spirts founder
said "This award will only serve to make
us even more innovative and committed to
bringing more people into the phenomenal
world of Scotch Whisky. It’s been a
wonderful year for me personally as our
new Dal Riata distillery in Campbeltown
has also received planning consent."
Charlie Maclean OBE, Master of the
Quaich said, "I can honestly say I have
never come across a North Star bottling
that was other than first rate - and I
have tasted quite a few!"
