unveil the final release in their
Consortium of Cards series: Old
Particular Ace of Spades Mortlach 13
Year Old .

bottler Douglas Laing & Co has unveiled
the final release in its Old
Particular "Consortium of Cards" series
and they are finishing of the series
with what else but an Ace. This time
Douglas Laing have dealt us an Old
Particular Ace of Spades Mortlach 13 Year Old single
malt whisky.
The fourth and final
planned bottling in the specialist
Single Cask series this year, it was
finished in a single Pedro Ximinez
Sherry Butt, and DL's tasting notes
include cinnamon, macerated plums, a
burst of rich fruits and a chocolate
orange finish.
Like the previous releases in the series
it has been bottled at 50% ABV without
colouring or chill-filtration and there
will be 521 bottles are available
globally.
The Ace of Spades joins the earlier releases in the
Consortium of Cards series; a Laphroaig
18 Years Old named "Queen of the
Hebrides", a Port Dundas 28 Year Old
named "The Crackerjack" and a Ben Nevis 20 Year Old,
entitled "King of the Hills".
Fred Laing, Managing Director the
Glasgow based independent whisky bottler
commented on the release, saying: "Our
Old Particular Consortium of Cards
series has allowed us to highlight and
celebrate some particularly tempting
casks from our family vaults throughout
this year. Our decision to finish this
Mortlach Malt in a PX butt has certainly
paid dividends, with the resulting
spirit showing incredible depth, plus a
rich and indulgent character. We’re
thrilled to show our "ace card" to see
off 2017!"
As well as this Old Particular Consortium of Cards Ace of Spades
Mortlach 13 year old whisky
Douglas Laing have also revealed a mouth
watering line up of Old Particular
bottlings in their latest outturn
line-up of Old Particular bottlings,
including the following, amongst others:
- Glenlossie 19 Year Old which
they described as a a toffee-sweet
Speyside whisky.
- Linkwood 20 Year Old showing
caramelised banana, whilst the
Highland region is represented by a
polished-wood style.
- Glengoyne 20 Year Old, a
waxed-orange and buttered toast
style.
- Tullibardine 24 Year Old.
- Ledaig 15 which they say is
particularly peated.
- Strathclyde Distillery 1990, a
single cask, single grain whisky
which they say shows a rich and
spicy toffee character, with a
moreish, caramel bon-bon finish.
All these Old Particular bottlings,
including the Old Particular Ace of
Spades Mortlach 13 Year Old, will be available from
specialist online whisky retailers such
