The Legendary
Silkie Irish Whiskey comes ashore for
St. Patrick's Day on Silver Strand beach
in Donegal on Ireland's Wild Atlantic
Way.

Just a quick one ahead of St Patrick’s
Day tomorrow, artist Manuel Froelich has
marked this years St Patrick’s Day on
Silver Strand beach in Donegal on
Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way by creating
an image of the local legendary Silkie
coming ashore to toast Ireland’s patron
saint with a drop of Silkie Irish
whiskey.
Struck by the beauty of Donegal, Manuel
said: "I really enjoyed visiting Donegal
and bringing our silkie to life on
Silver Strand beach. On the wild
Atlantic shoreline in Donegal, you don’t
find too many shamrocks or leprechauns,
but you do hear tales of Silkie's coming
ashore to steal the hearts of fishermen.
I hope even St. Patrick would be
impressed with our mermaid lifting a
glass of her namesake whiskey in his
honour."
If you are not familiar with the Silkie
Irish whiskey, it is the first step in
Sliabh Liag Distillers ambitious
journey. While they build their whiskey
distillery in Donegal they have sourced
a blend of malt and grain whiskeys which
they have blended together to deliver
what they describe as a signature soft
mouth feel and a silken, easy character.
The Legendary Silkie Irish whiskey has
been inspired by the tales of the
mythical Silkie seals of the Donegal
coast, the whiskey is a balanced blend
of double and triple distilled single
malts, soft grain whiskey and a hint of
peated malt. It is bottled by hand at
46% ABV and is non chill-filtered for a
distinctively rich character. Although
higher in ABV than most Irish blended
whisky's, The Legendary Silkie is
described exceptionally smooth with
crisp green apple to the fore, ripe red
fruits, gentle smoke and an oaky
sweetness which gives way to a long
lingering finish of gently warming
spice.
So if you are looking for something
different to pour this St Patrick’s Day
why not have a look at the Silkie Irish
whiskey which you will find
