The Scotch
Malt Whisky Society whisky club launches
Wham Bam! Festive Dram stocking filler.
The Scotch Malt
Whisky Society (SMWS) has unveiled a
35cl bottle of its Wham Bam! festive
dram, accompanied by a long-stem tasting
glass, just in time for the holiday
season.
Distilled at the Ben Nevis distillery
(SMWS distillery number 78), this 11
Year Old whisky was initially aged in an
ex-bourbon hogshead for five years
before being transferred to a first-fill
Spanish oak Oloroso hogshead. It’s
described as having a deep and rich nose
with notes of pickled walnuts, Madeira
cake, aged balsamic, and plum wine. The
palate offers leathery, earthy, and
slightly medicinal characteristics,
while a touch of water reveals warming
pepper spice, crystallised ginger, and
cinnamon, finishing with a flavour
reminiscent of mulled tonic wine.
This special release, bottled at half
the standard size (35cl instead of
70cl), follows SMWS tradition by being
presented at natural cask strength, 58%
ABV.
Euan Campbell, Head of Whisky Creation
at The Scotch Malt Whisky Society, said:
"This is a cracker of a dram, full of
rich and warming notes making it fit for
the Christmas toast and with a smaller
bottle designed to be the perfect
stocking filler for the whisky lover in
your life.
"The Society is all about the
flavour-first approach, and Wham Bam!
festive dram packs huge complexity of
flavour into the miniature bottle – we
can’t wait for people to try it!"
The release comes alongside the
Society’s new Winter Series — four
limited-edition single malt whiskies
inspired by defining moments from
October through January, with each
bottle launching monthly across the
winter season.
