Douglas Laing
& Co. unveils Strathearn Highland Single
Malt Scotch Whisky Batch 02
Building on the acclaim of its debut
release, independent Scotch whisky
specialist Douglas Laing & Co. proudly
introduces the second batch of
Strathearn Highland Single Malt Scotch
Whisky. This much-anticipated expression
continues to celebrate the artisanal
mastery and distinct personality of
Scotland’s smallest traditional
distillery.
Strathearn Batch 02 retains the
signature cask marriage that defined the
original release—bringing together
ex-Bourbon, Virgin Oak, and ex-Sherry
Oak casks. With a purposeful dial-down
of the Virgin Oak influence, this new
edition is said to offer enhanced
creaminess, freshness, and balance,
representing a thoughtful evolution of
Strathearn’s rich, characterful spirit.
Crafted from a vatting of 31 handpicked
casks, the batch includes both legacy
stock and whiskies distilled under
Douglas Laing’s stewardship—showcasing
the growing expertise of the dedicated
Strathearn team.
At Strathearn, every production run
results in just one single cask—a true
mark of small-batch craftsmanship. A
close-knit team of three distillers
oversees each step of the process,
handcrafting every barrel with precision
and care. The continued use of Maris
Otter barley imparts the whisky’s
signature creamy texture, with notes of
buttery biscuits, honey, and gentle
sweetness.
Bottled at what should be a flavoursome,
robust 50% ABV, and free from
chill-filtration or added colouring,
Strathearn Batch 02 is a pure,
unadulterated expression of Douglas
Laing’s commitment to authenticity. This
second release not only deepens the
story of Strathearn but also exemplifies
its journey of refinement—elevating the
spirit’s unique profile while staying
true to its handcrafted roots.
Cara Laing, Managing Director of Douglas
Laing & Co., comments: "The launch of
our inaugural Strathearn release was a
momentous occasion, and the response
exceeded all expectations. With Batch
02, we continue to honour the
distillery’s heritage while refining our
understanding of its unique spirit.
Every bottle of Strathearn embodies the
passion, skill, and dedication of our
small but mighty team—and we’re
incredibly proud to share this latest
chapter with whisky lovers worldwide."
