of Tomatin 14 Year Old Port Cask to
surprise your whisky lover with on February
14th.
Tomatin 14 Year Old Port Cask is
part of the Highland distillery's core
range, it was introduced to the
distillery's core range back in 2014,
Tomatin 14 Year Old is initially aged in
American Bourbon barrels and then
undergoes a one year finishing period in
Tawny Port pipes. This was the
distillery's first release to be
finished in Port wood, it delivers a
rich yet balanced fruity mix of
apricot and plum jam, orange, ripe
raisins and a little cherry,
sweet honey, and decadent toffee,
culminating in a smooth, lingering
finish reminiscent of a fruit salad.
Bottled at a flavoursome 46% ABV,
non-chill filtered and naturally
coloured the Tomatin 14 Year Old Port Cask
has a RRP of £77.50 but shop around you
can often find it a little cheaper, you
will find it available from specialist online whisky

and naturally coloured.

Tasting Notes:
Nose: A
lovely enticing, slightly candied sweet,
fruity, rich perfumed nose, with
butterscotch toffee, sweet honey, sugared plum,
peach, a little orange blossom and
cherry.
Taste: Honeyed
butterscotch toffee infused with a
deliciously juicy sweet fruity mix of
apricot and plum jam, orange, ripe
raisins and a little cherry, a lovely
vibrant oak spiciness and a late
nuttiness and a touch
of ginger.
Finish: A
delicious sweet lingering fruity finish
echoing the taste slowly fades to leave a
gentle mildly drying, mildly nutty,
slightly peppery oak spiciness.
Comment:
You will be hard pushed to find a more
delicious example of a Port Cask finish
than this Highlander. A deliciously
moreish example of a Port cask finish is
how I would best describe this and its
14 years of maturity simply adds to the
smooth fruity, honeyed, toffee'd taste
pleasure. If you have a whisky lover in
your life, I am sure they will love you
even more if you surprise them with a
bottle Tomatin 14 Year Old Port Cask.
