White Peak
distillery in Derbyshire unveils Wire
Works Alter Ego which brings a
distinctive twist to its signature light
peat background.
 Derbyshire's White Peak Distillery is
set to release a new limited edition
whisky this month called 'Alter Ego',
offering a unique flavour experience
within the Wire Works Whisky collection.
Wire Works Alter Ego presents a
distinctive twist to its signature light
peat background, showcasing rich fruit
flavours further expanding the whisky's
personality. This special single malt
limited edition has been carefully
distilled with different cut points than
previous Wire Works whiskies, enhancing
the fruit elements and allowing various
peat notes to shine through in the final
spirit. The selected casks used in this
release have a greater reliance on
first-fill ex-bourbon barrels compared
to earlier offerings, emphasizing fruity
notes and introducing a more robust
range of vanilla flavours.
Bottled at 51.5% ABV, 'Alter Ego'
maintains the characteristic balance of
higher strength and approachability that
has defined previous Wire Works Whisky
releases.
Max Vaughan, founder of White Peak
Distillery said: "We’re always keen to
showcase the innovation and creativity
we ourselves enjoy. ‘Alter Ego’ is an
example of how we are exploring and
developing different approaches during
our whisky-making to reveal new
personality in our spirit.
"We’re still on a learning curve and
it’s exciting to share this with
customers and for the longer term we’re
interested to get feedback on this
release and hope that both our loyal
Wire Works supporters and new whisky
drinkers will enjoy the whisky for what
it is – an approachable, fruit forward
yet complex spirit with a wee bit more
peat present in the glass."
Earlier this year, White Peak introduced
Caduro, the distillery's first permanent
expression among its range of whiskies.
Founded by Max and Claire Vaughan, a
husband-and-wife team originally from
Derbyshire, White Peak Distillery has
been thriving since its establishment
seven years ago. The distillery earned
multiple awards last year, not only for
its exceptional whiskies but also for
its Distillery visitor experiences and
the highly acclaimed packaging of Wire
Works Whisky.
Wire Works Alter Ego will be available
from June 10th with an RRP of £65 for a
70cl bottle, you will find it available from
