Whisky Focus - White Peak Distillery Wire Works Small Batch II

White Peak Distillery in Derbyshire today launched the second expression of its Small Batch Wire Works Whisky, White Peak Distillery Wireworks Small Batch II, this release follows hot on the footsteps of the inaugural Wireworks Small Batch whisky which launched during the summer 2022 and was well received by whisky fans.

White Peak Distillery Wire Works Small Batch II has been bottled at a higher ABV than its summer sibling, weighing in at what should be a flavoursome 47.7% ABV, launching today, 20th October, it is a limited-edition release of just 4,251 bottles which will be a available here in the UK as well as Germany and Italy.

Wire Works Small Batch II was matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and White Peak’s signature STR casks (re-conditioned casks that have been shaved, toasted and re-charred), it is lightly-peated with the fruit-forward characteristics found in the Wire Works Whisky range.

Described as approachable yet complex, with a delicious flavour profile combining orchard fruits, vanilla butter fudge and fruitcake on the nose, with tobacco, bitter orange marmalade and cereal on the palate and a smoke, spice and sweet vanilla finish.

White Peak Distillery was founded in 2016 by husband-and-wife team Max & Claire Vaughan - both originally from Derbyshire – and continues to go from strength to strength, having won awards not only for its whisky but also for its Distillery visitor experiences and, more recently, the Wire Works Whisky packaging.

Derbyshire’s first full-scale craft Distillery released just over 5,000 numbered bottles of its long-awaited inaugural single malt, Wire Works Whisky, at the beginning of February. The whisky received an extraordinary response from the Distillery’s loyal followers and supporters, selling out in just a few hours.

Wire WorksSmall Batch II has a RRP of £60 and will be available from today from the White Peak Distillery online shop and in-person from the Distillery’s shop, it will also be available from specialist online whisky shops such as The Whisky Exchange and Master of Malt
