Whyte & Mackay’s
Tamnavulin, Jura and The Dalmore single
malts pick up 24 Gold Medals between
them at the International Spirits
Challenge 2022 where whiskies undergo a
scrupulous blind tasting assessment.

If
you familiar with Whyte & Mackay’s
increasingly impressive range of Scotch single malt
whiskies these days from their
Tamnavulin, Jura and The Dalmore
distilleries then you wont be surprised
to hear that between them they have
picked up 24 Gold Medals at the
International Spirits Challenge 2022.
The International Spirits Challenge 2022
is one of the most authoritative and
influential spirits competitions in the
world, winning an ISC award is indeed an
impressive achievement for any whisky
that passes the scrupulous blind
assessment from the ISC's experienced
panel of specialist judges and their
awards are often a good indicator to
whisky drinkers to what whiskies that
may be worth trying.
Behind Whyte & Mackay’s collection of
iconic whiskies is their pioneering
Master Whisky Maker Gregg Glass and
Master Distiller Richard Paterson OBE,
today Whyte & Mackay is the largest
growing Single Malt brand owner
globally, boasting an impressive
portfolio that includes The Dalmore,
Jura and Tamnavulin.
Speyside single malt Tamnavulin which
has very much been revived and
transformed in recent years offering
whisky drinkers a quality and varied
range of single malts at a decent price
once again impressed the ISC judges,
securing a Gold medal for each of its
five entries, including the recently
launched
Tamnavulin White Wine Cask Edition
which I only just tasted my self for the
first time today (my review to follow). This is the
latest addition to its range of double
cask matured whiskies, which also
includes gold medal recipients
Tempranillo Cask Edition and Spanish
Grenache Cask Edition. The distillery,
which was transformed as a brand in
2016, continues to perform well and is
the fastest growing single malt
worldwide with good reason, they are
producing some quality single malts at a
very drammable price which given how
peoples budgets are being squeezed these
days is very welcome.
Hot on its heels is island distillery
Jura, the second fastest growing single
malt worldwide. Jura was awarded seven
medals by the ISC judges, including four
Golds: Jura 18 Year Old, Jura 21 Year
Old Tide, Jura 21 Year Old Time, Jura
Red Wine Cask Finish. This achievement
comes only four years since the historic
island distillery was relaunched.
Gold medals were also presented to Whyte
& Mackay’s The Woodsman Blended Scotch
Whisky and King of Trees 10 Year Old,
created by Whyte and Mackay’s Whisky
Works development arm by following a
rare maturation process using wood from
200 year old Scottish Oak trees.
