Review of the
single malt rich Compass Box Artist
Blend which is now presented in a 70cl
bottle.
 Artist Blend
(formally Great King Street Artist’s
Blend) is a tribute to the city of Edinburgh, the new label
depicts an artist in front of the
world-famous Scottish National Gallery.
Compass Box Founder, John Glaser, first
created this whisky back in 2011
and and took his inspiration from
100-year-old recipes.
The Artist Blend has a higher
proportion of single malt whiskies than
is normally found in blends today, it
contains 45% Cameronbridge single grain whisky
matured in a First Fill Bourbon Barrel, 22%
Linkwood single malt matured in a First
Fill Bourbon Barrel, 10% Balmenach
single malt matured in a First Fill
Bourbon Barrel, 10% Clynelish single
malt matured in a First Fill Bourbon
Barrel, 5% Linkwood single malt from a
Revatted Palo Cortado Sherry-seasoned
Butt and 8% is a custom Highland blended
malt matured in a Custom French Oak
Cask.
The Compass Box Artist Blend is bottled at 43% ABV, non chill filtered
and naturally coloured and I am pleased
to say is now presented in a 70cl bottle
with a RRP of £37.

Morrison's Tasting Notes:
Nose:
Apple, a little slightly candied citrus
fruit, sultana, sweet vanilla and
caramel.
Taste:
A gentle creamy vanilla caramel delivery
with just the slightest lemon and orange
citrus infusion, some lovely gentle oak
spice, a little raisin and sultana
fruitiness, a wee bit of saltiness and
the apple from the nose makes a late
appearance.
Finish::
A lovely longish finish, the apple and
now more orangey citrus fruits bow out
first leaving lingering gentle oak
spices piggy backing on some lovely
sugars.
Comment:
Still a cracking very well constructed,
enjoyable, easy to drink blend that
could rival most single malts in this
price range for quality and pleasure and
I am pleased to see Compass Box has now
put it in a 70cl bottle.
